Harry Dougherty Jr., DDS, MS
- Adjunct faculty in the Graduate Orthodontic Department at University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, USA, teaching cephalometrics, diagnosis and treatment planning, surgical orthodontics
- Attending faculty to the residents in the graduate orthodontic clinic at USC
- DDS in 1985, certificate in orthodontics and Masters of Craniofacial Biology from the Ostrow School of Dentistry at University of Southern California (USC)
- In private practice in orthodontics for 33 years in Sherman Oaks, California
Dr. Harry Dougherty Jr research interest is in CAD-CAM orthodontics, and computer modeling of treatment mechanics, appliance design and outcomes. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a Regular Member of the Edward H. Angle Society. He has spoken at the PCSO, Southern California Component of the Angle Society, the Angle Biennial Meetings, the Arnett Forum in Santa Barbara and has lectured on treatment mechanics and asymmetrical treatment. He has published in the AJO-DO, and the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics as well as done case presentations in the PCSO Journal.

Dr. Daniele Cantarella is Author of several publications and reviewer for International Orthodontic Journals, speaker at numerous Orthodontic Associations, member of SIDO, AIDOR, WFO and E.H. Angle Society of Orthodontists, Component of Southern California, USA.
His areas of expertise are digital orthodontics, skeletal anchorage, biomechanics, dentofacial orthopedics. He maintains a private practice in Orthodontics in Treviso, Venice area, Italy.
Course Learning Objectives
After the course, attendees will:
- Understand the diagnostic process based on McLaughlin-Arnett cephalometric analysis, to properly diagnose and treatment plan orthodontic as well as surgical cases that present a significant skeletal component
- Learn how to utilize the best anatomical insertions sites for TADs, both in the mandible and maxilla, at inter-radicular as well as extra-alveolar areas
- Learn the technique for miniscrews insertion
- Have a clear understanding of the use of miniscrews for total arch retraction or total arch intrusion for the non-surgical treatment of skeletal Class II, Class III or vertical excess malocclusion
- Learn how to combine miniscrews with the McLaughlin-Bennett straight wire appliance
- Learn how to combine the use of miniscrews with clear aligners
- Learn how to execute a 3D planning for orthognathic surgical cases based on patient CBCT
- Learn to perform an orthodontic preparation for orthognathic surgical cases
- Understand the finishing procedure of surgical cases
- Learn the mechanics and how to solve potential problems in orthodontic preparations or finishing for surgical cases
